This extract kit is great one for your first foray into sours and lambics.  Based on a classic lambic base, this recipe utilizes Lallemand's Philly Sour yeast to allow for your traditional fermentation to happen alongside lactic acid formation.  Bottle conditioning can be tricky with these lambics, particularly if you're adding fruit, so we include some bottle conditioning yeast.  The CBC-1 bottle conditioning yeast will kill any remaining Philly Sour yeast so you shouldn't experience additional lactic acid development while conditioning/refermenting.

The kit includes:

  • Liquid malt extract (Ultralight)
  • Steeping Grains (Crystal15 and Pale Wheat)
  • Grain bag
  • All hops (German Tradition)
  • Yeast (Philly Sour and CBC1 for bottle conditioning)
  • Dextrose (late addition)
  • Whirlfloc
  • Priming sugar (Dextrose)

You'll need to provide:

  • 3.5 lbs of fruit (this is optional)
